PCS Mailings for 2023
In December we will be mailing a copy of the special publication for this year to all members, a 258-page biography of one of Penguin’s internal editors: A.S.B. Glover: The Unacknowledged Genius of Penguin. Alan Glover was largely responsible for the non-fiction side of Penguin’s output, in particular the Pelican list, between 1944 and his retirement in 1960. This book will be a welcome addition to the Society’s publications.
Included with this mailing will be a four-page sheet of Corrections to the Companion to the study of Penguin Books, brief details of the Annual Meeting in 2024, and information concerning subscription renewal.
A second mailing should be sent to all 2023 members in January 2024, containing The Penguin Collector 100. The production of this has been delayed but it will be a much more extensive issue than normal, with a wide range of material designed to celebrate the Society’s 50th anniversary. We believe that members’ anticipation of this special issue will be well rewarded.
